For any fixed prime number \(p\), let \(M(p)^+\) (resp. \(M(p)^-\)) be the set of all real (resp. imaginary) quadratic fields in which \(p\) splits, and for a quadratic field \(K\) in \(M(p)^+\) or \(M(p)^-\), denote by \(n_K\) the order of the ideal class of a prime ideal of \(K\) over \(p\). Moreover, by \(\delta p^+\) (resp. \(\delta p^-\)) the mapping \(M(p)^+\to \mathbb{N}\) (resp. \(M(p)^-\to \mathbb{N}\)) such that \(K\to n_K\). In Part I [Nagoya Math. J. 99, 63-71 (1985; Zbl 0578.14031)], the author proved that the image of \(\delta p^-\) is equal to \(\mathbb{N}\), and remarked for the real quadratic case that the image of \(\delta p^+\) contains 1 and 2 for any \(p\). In this paper, he intends to consider the structure of the image of \(\delta p^+\) and proves that the image of \(\delta p^+\) contains \(2^n\) for all \(n\geq 0\). Namely, for a fixed prime \(p\) and a positive integer \(n\), he takes positive integers \(r\) and \(X\) satisfying some conditions and shows that \(K= \mathbb{Q} (\sqrt{rX(rX+4p^{2n})})\) belongs to \(M(p)^+\) and that the image of \(K\) by \(\delta p^+\) is equal to \(2^{n+1}\). Part III, cf. ibid. 75, 176-177 (1999; Zbl 0963.11062).
