The author shows, as conjectured by T. Ódor, that any real valued, equiaffine invariant and upper (or lower) semicontinuous valuation \(\mu\), of the space \({\mathcal K}^2\) of all compact convex sets \(K\) in the plane \(\mathbb{E}^2\) is of the form \[ \mu(K)= c_0+c_1A(K)+ c_2\lambda(K). \] Here \(A(K)\) resp. \(\lambda(K)\) are the area resp. the affine perimeter of \(K\) and \(c_0,c_1, c_2\) are constants with \(c_2\geq 0\) (or \(c_2\leq 0)\) in the case of an upper semicontinuous (or lower semicontinuous) valuation \(\mu\). Consequences of this theorem are the equality of \(\lambda(K): =\int_{bd} \kappa(x)^{1\over 3}d \sigma(x)\) \((\kappa\) curvature and \(\sigma\) one-dimensional Hausdorff measure of bd \(K)\) with other ``affine rectificates'' of bd \(K\) [see e.g. \textit{K. Leichtweiß}, On the afine rectification of convex curves, Beitr. Algebra Geom. 40, 185-193 (1999)] as well as the extension of L. Fejes Tóth's approximation formulae \[ \delta(K,{\mathcal P}_n^i) \sim{1 \over 12}\lambda (K)^3{1\over n^2}\text{ as } n\to\infty\text{ and }\delta (K, {\mathcal P}^c_n) \sim{1\over 24}\lambda (K)^3{1\over n^2} \text{ as }n\to \infty \] \((\delta\) symmetric difference distance, \({\mathcal P}_n^i\) resp. \({\mathcal P}_n^c\) set of all convex polygons with at most \(n\) vertices inscribed in \(K\) resp. circumscribed about \(K)\) to general compact convex sets \(K\) in \(\mathbb{E}^2\). [Remark: In the meantime the theorem indicated at first has been generalized to the \(d\)-dimensional case by \textit{M. Ludwig} and \textit{M. Reitzner} [Adv. Math. 147, No. 1, 138-172 (1999; Zbl 0947.52003)].
