This paper is devoted to a nonlinear power transmission system of the form \[ \begin{cases} \frac{d}{dt} \delta(t)=\omega(t),\\ \frac{d}{dt} \omega(t)=-\frac 1H P_s\sin \delta(t)-\frac DH \omega(t)+\frac 1H P_m+\frac 1H P_e\cos \beta t,\end{cases} \] where \(H\), \(D\) are equivalent rotational inertia and equivalent damp coefficients, respectively. \(P_s\) be the maximum electric power, \(P_m\) the machinery power, \(P_e\) the amplitude of the perturbation power, and \(\beta\) is the frequency of perturbation. The authors consider the transmission of large power in systems and as a result of it \(P_m\), \(D\) and \(P_e\) take small values. The authors use the Melnikov method to predict heteroclinic bifurcations. Chaotic oscillation is discussed. Moreover the authors give a theoretic analysis and a computational method which is relevant for controlling the nonlinear power system.
