Some multiplicative preservers on \(B(H)\) (Q1970503)

Let \(H\) be a separable complex Hilbert space of dimension \(>2\) and \(B(H)\) the algebra of bounded linear operators on \(H\). In this paper the author describes those continuous multiplicative maps of \(B(H)\) which preserve the rank or the corank. In addition, the author also characterizes those continuous *-semigroup endomorphism \(\varphi\) of \(B(H)\) that are spectrum nonincreasing (i.e., \(\sigma(\varphi(T))\subset\sigma(T)\), \(T\in B(H)\)).
