A geometric hyperplane \(H\) of a generalised quadrangle \(Q\) is a proper subset of \(Q\) such that every line of \(Q\) meets \(H\) in one or all points. Define a new geometry \(C\) whose points are the points of \(Q\) not in \(H\) and whose lines are the lines of \(Q\) not contained in \(H\). The authors prove that, when \(Q\) is a classical finite generalised quadrangle, the geometry \(C\) admits a flag-transitive automorphism group if and only if \(H\) spans a hyperplane of the projective space in which \(Q\) is naturally embedded.
