The paper analyzes the Marciniak-Kuczynski (M-K) model [\textit{Z. Marciniak} and \textit{K. Kuczynski}, Int. J. Mech. Sci. 21, 609-621 (1979; Zbl 0409.73027)] in order to determine the effects of different yield criteria on the forming of limit diagrams. Hill's quadratic yield criterion that incorporates the effects of plastic anisotropy by the strain ratio, Hosford's yield criteria (for two values of material parameter), and Hill's non-quadratic yield criterion are considered for plane stress state only. In the M-K model, the material is rigidly plastic, the strain hardening power law describes the effective stress via the effective plastic strain, and the flow rule is associated to each of the above-mentioned yield criteria. The effect of the yield criterion on the prediction of limit strains, as an aspect of sheet metal forming prediction, is investigated based on appropriate relations between the ratio of in-plaine strain increments and the ratio of in-plane stresses.
