The authors describe an interactive simulation program illustrating grain boundary and fraction phenomena in solids. A two-dimensional system containing a grain boundary or an initial crack can be defined. Tilt boundaries can be either symmetric or asymmetric. The program allows to study what happens to the given structure when it is subjected to strain at a given temperature. The program has been written in C using MOTIF for all graphics, and is developed for an X11 Window System platform.
