Using his theory of mixed Hodge modules introduced by \textit{M. Saito} [Publ. Res. Inst. Math. Sci. 24, 849-995 (1998; Zbl 0691.14007) and 26, 221-333 (1990; Zbl 0727.14004)], the author introduces in this paper the notion of mixed Hodge complex on an algebraic variety. A mixed \(\mathbb{Q}\)-Hodge complex \(K\) consists of a filtered differential complex \((K_F,F)\) with a filtration \(W\), and two filtered complexes \((K_\mathbb{Q},W)\), \((K_\mathbb{C},W)\) with \(\mathbb{Q}\)- and \(\mathbb{C}\)-cofficients, endowed with two quasi-isomorphisms \((K_F,W) \to(K_\mathbb{C},W)\), \((K_\mathbb{Q}, W)\otimes_\mathbb{Q} \mathbb{C}\to (K_\mathbb{C},W)\) satisfying certain properties. A mixed \(\mathbb{Q}\)-Hodge \({\mathcal D}\)-complex is defined similarly by replacing the filtered differential complex \((K_F,F)\) with a complex of filtered \({\mathcal D}\)-module. One of the main results of the paper says that for any complex algebraic variety \(X\), there is a natural functor from the derived category of bounded complexes of mixed \(\mathbb{Q}\)-Hodge modules on \(X\) to the triangulated category of mixed \(\mathbb{Q}\)-Hodge \({\mathcal D}\)-complexes on \(X\) such that it commutes with the direct image under a proper morphism. Another result establishes a relation between the filtered complex of Du Bois and some mixed \(\mathbb{Q}\)-Hodge complex.
