Systems of matrix first-order differential equations of the type \[ X_i'= \sum^n_{j=1} A^j_i(t) X_j+B_i(t), \quad i=1,\dots, n,\tag{1} \] with continuous square matrices \(A_i^j(t)\) and \(B_i(t)\) are considered. Sufficient conditions for the solvability of (1) in quadratures are stated in terms of the theory of Lie algebras. Matrix linear differential equations of higher order that are equivalent to (1) are studied as well. An illustrative example is given.
