Motivated by the central limit problem for normed isotropic convex bodies \(K\subset\mathbb{R}^n\) [see \textit{U. Brehm} and \textit{J. Voigt}, Beitr. Algebra Geom. 41, No.~2, 437-454 (2000; see the review above)], the author proves that for a certain class of such sets \(K\), the mass concentrates in a spherical shell, asymptotically for large \(n\). This is used to show that the average content of the hyperplane sections of \(K\) through the origin (averaged over all directions) is close to the value of the Gaussian density corresponding to \(K\) at 0. It is further shown that the class considered contains the balls, cubes, cross polytopes and regular simplices, and is closed under the operations of forming cones, Cartesian products and `joins'.
