The paper is a part of the author's Ph.D. thesis done at UNAM Mexico and deals with algebras which are derived equivalent to tubular algebras in the sense of \textit{C. M. Ringel} [Tame algebras and integral quadratic forms (Lect. Notes Math. 1099) (1984; Zbl 0546.16013)]. The main result is a characterization of representation finite derived tubular algebras in terms of the associated quadratic form. In particular, these algebras are strongly simply connected, the Euler form is nonnegative and has corank two and the Tits form does not admit a positive isotropic root. The result gives a distinction between derived tubular algebras and derived pg-critical algebras, whose Euler forms manifest similar properties. The author shows also that each derived tubular algebra of type \((2,2,2,2)\) is representation infinite.
