The author first shows how more general Lotka-Volterra equations can be obtained from simple ones with an obvious Hamiltonian structure by restricting to an energy surface. Then quasi-monomial constants of motion are studied. A method for constructing such invariants based on the reduction to lower-dimensional subsystems is described.
