This paper contains certain applications of classical inequalities as by Chebychev, Hölder, Grüss, Ostrowski, etc. in the theory of the Euler Gamma and Beta functions. Section 2 presents some standard facts, while in Section 3 appear the first applications. However, Theorems 5-7 are well-known in the literature (the application of Hölder's inequality is known); Theorems 1-4 can be deduced as consequences of a simple property of the Gamma function [see the reviewer's paper: ``On the Gamma function. III'' (to appear)]. The applications of Ostrowski or Grüss-type inequalities or other quadrature formulae seem to be new, but even for these results the reviewer feels that there are more natural ways involving the analytical or other properties of Gamma or some related special functions.
