Let \(G\) be an amenable topological group, \(E\) be a Banach space and \(L(E)\) an algebra of bounded linear operators on \(E\). A mapping \(T: G\to L(E)\) is called \(\varepsilon\)-quasi-representation, \(\varepsilon\geq 0\), if the set \(\{T(g_1g_2)- T(g_1)(g_2): g_1,g_2\in G\}\) is contained in the ball of radius \(\varepsilon\) centered at \(0\) in \(L(E)\). The question when quasi-representations can be approximated by ordinary representations is studied. It is proved that any finite-dimensional \(\varepsilon\)-representation \(T\) is a bounded perturbation of an ordinary representation, i.e. there exist a representation \(S:G\to L(E)\) and a positive constant \(C\) such that \(\|T(g)- S(g)\|\leq C\) for any \(g\in G\). To prove similar results for infinite-dimensional \(\varepsilon\)-quasi-representations of locally compact amenable groups the author needs some additional sufficient conditions concerning the Banach space \(E\) and the quasi-representation. In the case of discrete amenable groups and \(\varepsilon<{1\over 2}\) one can control the constant \(C\) as a function of \(\varepsilon\).
