Consider the differential expression \[ ly = -y'' + A(x)y,\qquad 0<x<\infty, \] where \(y(x)= (y_1(x), \dots , y_n(x))\) is a vector function, and \(A(x)\) is a Hermitian matrix with the entries \(a_{ij}(x)\in C^2[0,\infty)\). Denote by \(L_0\) the minimal operator generated by this differential expression in \(L_n^2[0,\infty)\). It is well known that the study of the spectral properties of \(L_0\) and of its selfadjoint extensions is closely related to the asymptotic behavior as \(x\longrightarrow \infty\) of the fundamental system of solutions to the equation \(ly=\lambda y\). The study of this asymptotic behavior is the main objective of this paper.
