The author proves the following theorem: let \(\phi: \Sigma\to\mathbb{R}^3\) be an immersion from a compact disc \(\Sigma\) into \(\mathbb{R}^3\) with constant mean curvature and such that \(\phi(\partial\Sigma)\) is a circle of radius 1. If \(\int_{\Sigma}|\sigma|^2 d\Sigma\leq 8\pi\), where \(\sigma\) is the second fundamental form, then \(\phi\) is umbilical. For related results see: \textit{J. L. Barbosa} and \textit{M.
