An exact numerical method for solving the Stokes-type factorized problem (Q1974741)

A finite difference approximation of a factorized Stokes-type problem on a staggered grid is considered. An accurate stable numerical method for solving this problem with Dirichlet's boundary conditions is proposed. The first implementation of the method on \(N\times M\) grid requires \(O(N\times M \ln M)+ O(N^2 (N+ M))\) arithmetical operations, and \(O(N\times M\ln M)+ O(N^2)\) arithmetical operations for its further applications. The application of this method substantially increases the efficiency of some difference schemes for time-dependent Stokes and Navier-Stokes equations.
