The problem of adaptive control for linear discrete systems is considered in the presence of adaptive and multiplicative deterministic disturbances, with extremely poor information making the plant unidentifiable. The fundamental idea of the approach consists in understanding the identification problem as completely subordinated to the control objectives and, consequently, in introducing the control performance in the identification algorithm. The procedure guarantees the stability of the closed-loop system. Moreover, the control performance results arbitrarily close to the case when the parameters of the plant are known. A simple projection algorithm is used to prove these properties.
