The authors describe a derivation of dynamic stiffness matrix for noncircular curved beams with variable cross-section. First, they solve a boundary value problem for the governing differential equation by using Laplace transform and expressing the nodal force vector through the nodal displacement vector. Then, the obtained series solution is applied to beams of arbitrary shape and cross-section. The suggested approach can be considered as a variant of finite element method based on nodal displacements.
