The authors study how the wavelets can be applied to the analysis of the frequency of vortex shedding from a single cylinder in a cross-flow. Two types of wavelets, namely the Mexican hat and the modulated Gaussian wavelet, are considered. Furthermore, the paper examines the chaotic behavior of vortex shedding signals from various positions along the cylinder span. It is found that the signals along the cylinder are characterized by a higher energy in the low frequency range below the Strouhal frequency.
