    The authors study the nonlinear parabolic system \[ \begin{aligned} &u_t = v^{\alpha_1}(u_{xx} + au),\quad x\in\Omega,\;t > 0,\\ &v_t = u^{\alpha_2}(v_{xx} + bv),\quad x\in\Omega,\;t > 0,\\ &u = v|_{\partial\Omega} = 0, \quad t > 0,\\ u(x,0) & = u_0(x), \qquad v(x,0) = v_0(x),\qquad x\in\Omega, \end{aligned} \] where \(\alpha_1\), \(\alpha_2\), \(a\), \(b > 0\) are constants, \(\Omega\) is an open interval in \(\mathbb R\) and \(u_0\), \(v_0\) are positive functions. The authors prove that the system admits a global solution if \(a\), \(b < \lambda_1(\Omega)\) by using the regularization and upper-lower solution methods. The finite time blow-up result together with an estimate of the blow-up are found. Finally, the authors obtain estimates for blow-up sets with positive measure.
