Topological Hochschild homology has been introduced by \textit{M. Bökstedt} in 1985. It is isomorphic to MacLane homology and to stable \(K\)-theory in the sense of Waldhausen [at least for suitable classes of coefficients, see \textit{T. Pirashvili} and \textit{F. Waldhausen}, ``MacLane homology and topological Hochschild homology'', J. Pure Appl. Algebra 82, No. 1, 81-98 (1992; Zbl 0767.55010) and \textit{B. I. Dundas} and \textit{R. McCarthy}, ``Stable \(K\)-theory and topological Hochschild homology'', Ann. Math., II. Ser. 140, No. 3, 685-701 (1994; Zbl 0833.55007)]. Some computations of topological Hochschild homology groups can be found for example in [\textit{V. Franjou, J. Lannes} and \textit{L. Schwartz}, ``Autour de la cohomologie de MacLane des corps finis'', Invent. Math. 115, No. 3, 513-538 (1994; Zbl 0798.18009) and \textit{T. Pirashvili}, ``On the topological Hochschild homology of \(\mathbb Z/{p^k}\mathbb Z\)'', Commun. Algebra 23, No. 4, 1545-1549 (1995; Zbl 0818.18006)]. The present article computes explicitly the topological Hochschild homology for \({\mathbb Z}/p^n\). The idea of the computation is to consider \({\mathbb Z}/p^n\) as a filtered ring. The main theorem reads: let \(p\) be a prime and \(n\geq 2\). For \(i\geq 0\), there are isomorphisms: \[ \begin{aligned} \pi_{2i}THH({\mathbb Z}/p^n)&\cong \bigoplus_{0\leq k\leq i}{\mathbb Z}/\text{gcd}(k,p^n)\\ \pi_{2i-1}THH({\mathbb Z}/p^n)& \cong\bigoplus_{1\leq k\leq i}{\mathbb Z}/gcd(k,p^n)\end{aligned} \] {}.
