On spatially periodic solutions of the damped Boussinesq equation (Q1979030)

Global behavior of classical spatially periodic solutions of the damped Boussinesq equation is examined for small data and in one space variable. The asymptotic behavior with respect to a small parameter at the initial data is obtained. The argument is detailed with special attention to the possible (and more interesting) absence of the overdamping phenomenon. The result is of particular interest in the study of wave propagation in media with dispersion.
