A weakly monotone Fock space \(F_{WM}\) is a subspace of the free Fock space over \(\ell^2\) spanned by `weakly-monotone' tensor products of elements of the canonical orthonormal basis. Natural versions of the formulas used in the free case yield the creation operators \(A_i^\dagger \in B(F_{WM})\) and their adjoints, annihilation operators \(A_i \in B(F_{WM})\) (\(i \in \mathbb{N}\)). In the paper under review, the authors study the distribution of the `nonsymmetric position operators' of the form \[ S_m(\lambda):= \sum_{i=1}^m \left(\frac{A_i^\dagger + A_i}{\sqrt{m}} + \lambda A_i^\dagger A_i\right), \ m \in \mathbb{N},\ \lambda>0, \] with respect to the vacuum state of \(B(F_{WM})\). The relevant moments are given explicit combinatorial expressions in terms of certain classes of non-crossing partitions. These are in turn used to establish a central limit theorem: distributions in question converge (as \(m\) tends to infinity) to free Meixner laws with parameters \((\lambda, 1/2, 2,0)\). An important role in the proofs is played by the combinatorics of Motzkin paths and its relationship to particular types of partitions. The authors also discuss corresponding results for a monotone Fock space.
