The authors apply the Mori-Tanaka scheme to elastic-viscoplastic composites. Though the Mori-Tanaka scheme is not justified and has limitations in applications to non-dilute composites, its simplicity allows to study elastic-viscoplastic materials. This paper concerns the analysis of some intrinsic features of spurious softening in the macroscopic response that may be encountered when the Perzyna-type viscoplasticity model is used.
