A sharp Khinchin-type \(L_{-p}\)-\(L_2\), \(0<p<1\), moment comparison inequality between an arbitrary negative moment and the second moment for sums of independent uniform random variables is established. This result extends Ball's celebrated cube slicing inequality, which states that the maximal volume cross-section of the centred cube \([-1, 1]^n\) in \(\mathbb R^n\) by a hyperplane) equals \(2^{n-1}\sqrt 2\). This result answers an old question from [\textit{A. Baernstein II} and \textit{R. C. Culverhouse}, Stud. Math. 152, No. 3, 231--248 (2002; Zbl 0997.60009)] and provides a sharp version of the very general results from [\textit{E. A. Gorin} and \textit{S. Yu. Favorov}, Theory Probab. Appl. 35, No. 4, 766--771 (1990; Zbl 0741.60013); translation from Teor. Veroyatn. Primen. 35, No. 4, 762--767 (1990)].
