Jacobi forms that are key part in the theory of modular forms can be found them as the Fourier-Jacobi coefficients of Siegel modular forms. These forms are systematically studied, in the classical case in [\textit{M. Eichler} and \textit{D. Zagier}, The theory of Jacobi forms. Boston-Basel-Stuttgart: Birkhäuser (1985; Zbl 0554.10018)]. They were shown to have theta decompositions. This essentially means that unary theta functions are the most basic Jacobi forms, and all the others can be constructed from them using modular forms of weight (1/2) less. The theta decomposition thus establishes an isomorphism between holomorphic Jacobi forms and holomorphic vector-valued modular forms, involving the Weil representation dual to that of a positive definite lattice of rank 1. The notion of Jacobi forms has been generalized in several directions [\textit{C. Ziegler}, Abh. Math. Semin. Univ. Hamb. 59, 191--224 (1989; Zbl 0707.11035)]. The author of the paper under review gives a definition of Jacobi forms of indefinite lattice index, and show that they are isomorphic to vector-valued modular forms also in this setting. He obtains a bilinear map between vector-valued modular forms arising from the product operation. The paper consists of 4 sections in the following sequence. Defines the Jacobi-Siegel theta functions along with the proofs of its properties, definition of his own Jacobi forms, and establishes the main correspondence, Investigates the behavior of the operations on both types of objects, and study the theta functions with characteristics. The paper is supported by a good list of references.
