The author investigates the limit of the equation \[ \Delta_gu+hu=fu^5+\frac{\theta a}{u^7}\tag{1} \] which arises from a previous analysis of \textit{Y. Choquet-Bruhat} and \textit{R. Geroch} [Commun. Math. Phys. 14, 329--335 (1969; Zbl 0182.59901)] and \textit{R. Bartnik} and \textit{J. Isenberg} [in: The Einstein equations and the large scale behavior of gravitational fields. 50 Years of the Cauchy problem in general relativity. Basel: Birkhäuser. 1--38 (2004; Zbl 1073.83009)] of the Einstein-Hilbert-Lichnerowicz equation in a 3-dimensional Riemannian manifold, when the momentum parameter $\theta\to 0$. The author proves under a positive mass assumption on \(\Delta_g+h\) that sequences of positive solutions to this equation converge in \(C^2(M)\), as $\theta\to 0$, either to zero or to a positive solution of the limiting equation \(\Delta_gu+hu=fu^5\). Additionally the author proves that the minimizing solution of equation (1), constructed earlier by the author in [Calc. Var. Partial Differ. Equ. 53, No. 1--2, 29--64 (2015; Zbl 1321.83013)] converges uniformly to zero, as $\theta\to 0$.
