This paper is a contribution to an analysis of the notion of vagueness by means of modal logic. The authors present an approach, which they characterize as the ``modal logic of vagueness''. They take the notion of clarity (definiteness, determinacy) as derivative of being a borderline case of a property, the latter notion thus considered to be philosophically basic. It is also argued that intuitionistic logic is a natural basis for the modal logic of vagueness so conceived.
