For a Banach algebra \(A\) and a Banach \(A\)-bimodule \(E\), an element \(x\in E\) is called weakly almost periodic if the module maps \(A\rightarrow E\), \(a\mapsto a\cdot x\) and \(x\mapsto x\cdot a\), are weakly compact, and the set of all weakly almost periodic elements of \(E\) is denoted by \(WAP(E)\). In the paper under review, the authors study the dual Banach algebra \(F(A)=WAP(A^*)^*\) (with respect to the first Arens product inherited from \(A^{**}\)). In [\textit{Y.~Choi} et al., Math. Scand. 117, 258--303 (2015; Zbl 1328.47041)], this Banach algebra is called the enveloping dual Banach algebra associated to \(A\), and Connes amenability of \(F( A )\) in terms of the WAP-virtual diagonal of \(A\) is investigated. In this paper, the notion of WAP-biprojectivity for \(F(A)\) is introduced. Then the authors study the relationship between WAP-biprojectivity of \(F( A )\) and biprojectivity of \(A\). They also show that the Connes amenability of \(F( A )\) implies the Connes amenability of the dual Banach algebra \(A \). Some examples of the enveloping dual Banach algebras associated with certain Banach algebras are also provided.
