The authors study the topological equicontinuity and continuity of topological dynamical systems. Sections 1 and 2 contain introductory material. In Section 3, a topological equicontinuity theory is build up. It includes a generalization of the Auslander-Yorke dichotomy. Section 4 is devoted to a construction of a compact topologically transitive system with an even continuity pair but no point of even continuity. In Section 5, the so-called splitting property is introduced and its relationship with topological equicontinuity and even continuity is discussed. In Section 6, some other results connecting transitivity and sensitivity are given. Finally, in Section 7, a dichotomy result for compact Hausdorff transitive systems is proposed.
