    The main goal of the paper under review is to provide generalizations of some well-known singular value and norm inequalities. Let \(H\) be a separable Hilbert space and \(T\) be an operator on \(H\). Then the singular values of \(T\), denoted by \(s_j(T)\), \(j \geq 1\), are the eigenvalues of \(|T|\) arranged in decreasing order and repeated according to multiplicity. In the present paper, the author proves that, for positive operators \(A, B\) and \(X\) on a separable Hilbert space \(H\), it holds that \[ s_j\left( A^{\frac{1}{2}}X A^{\frac{1}{2}} + B^{\frac{1}{2}} X B^{\frac{1}{2}} \right)\leq s_j\left( \left( A^{\frac{1}{2}}X A^{\frac{1}{2}} + \left| B^{\frac{1}{2}} X A^{\frac{1}{2}} \right| \right) \oplus \left( B^{\frac{1}{2}}X B^{\frac{1}{2}} + \left| A^{\frac{1}{2}} X B^{\frac{1}{2}} \right| \right) \right), \] which is sharper than related result obtained in [\textit{H. Albadawi}, Ann. Funct. Anal. 3, No. 1, 10--18 (2012; Zbl 1270.47013)].
