In this paper, eight versions of the weighted essentially non-oscillatory (WENO) scheme are investigated for the direct numerical simulation of screech tones. Spectral properties of the screech tones are analyzed through direct numerical simulation of underexpanded supersonic cold jet issuing from circular sonic nozzle based on axisymmetric Navier-Stokes equations. The applicability of WENO schemes is evaluated and their spectral properties are compared, including the linear responses and the nonlinear responses. The axisymmetric Navier-Stokes equations, flux-splitting method, boundary conditions, and computational grid used for current direct numerical simulation of supersonic jet screech tone is presented. The results obtained by all eight kinds of WENO schemes are compared and the applicability for screech tone's direct numerical simulation is investigated with detailed simulations.
