In the paper under review, the author studies properties of two different functions related to alternating Cantor series. The first function takes a number with an alternating Cantor series expansion and maps it to the alternating \(q\)-ary expansion, i.e., \[ x = \sum_{n=1}^\infty \frac{(-1)^n \varepsilon_n}{q_1 q_2 \cdots q_n}\mapsto f(x) = \sum_{n=1}^\infty \frac{\varepsilon_n}{(-q)^n}. \] The second function takes numbers from the fractal set of numbers which admit an expansion of the form \[ x = - \frac{u}{q+1} + \sum_{n=1}^{\infty}\frac{\alpha_n - u}{(-q)^{\alpha_1 + \alpha_2 + \cdots + \alpha_n}},\] with \(u \in \{0,1,\dots, q-1\}\) and the coefficients \(\alpha_n \in \{0,1,\dots, q-1\}\setminus \{u\}\). These numbers have alternating \(q\)-ary expansions with long blocks consisting only of the digit \(u\). These are mapped to \[ h(x) = \sum_{n=1}^\infty \frac{\alpha_n}{(-q)^n}. \] For these functions, a number of irregularty properties are derived.
