In the present paper, using two different methods, the author describes a genus one (the minimal fiber genus) Lefschetz fibration \(DT^{\ast}\Sigma\rightarrow D^2\), on the disk cotangent bundle \(DT^{\ast}\Sigma\), of a closed, connected, and orientable genus \(g\) surface \(\Sigma\). One of these methods is due to \textit{J. Johns} [in: Proceedings of the 18th Gökova geometry-topology conference, Gökova, Turkey, May 30--June 4, 2011. Somerville, MA: International Press; Gökova: Gökova Geometry-Topology Conferences. 53--84 (2012; Zbl 1360.57032)], and the other is due to \textit{M. Ishikawa} [Topology 43, No. 1, 215--232 (2004; Zbl 1040.57011)] (the present author points out an orientation error in the latter paper which results in a genus one Lefschetz fibration on the disk cotangent bundle). To describe the minimal genus Lefschetz fibration, firstly, the author explicitly constructs Lefschetz fibrations on the disk cotangent bundle \(DT^{\ast}\Sigma\) by these two different methods and then proves that these Lefschetz fibrations are isomorphic. As a result, the author obtains the minimal page genus (genus one with \(4g+4\) boundary components) open book decomposition of the unit cotangent bundle \(ST^{\ast}\Sigma\) of \(\Sigma\) supporting the canonical contact structure \(\xi_{can}\) on \(ST^{\ast}\Sigma\). Also, the monodromy is given explicitly as a product of positive Dehn twists.
