Let \(q(\mathbf{x}), \; \mathbf{x}:=(x_{0}, \dots, x_{n}),\; n\in\mathbb{N}\), be an integral quadratic form of rank at least \(5\), let \(f_{j}(\mathbf{x}),\; 1\leq j\leq r,\; r\in\mathbb{N},\) be homogeneous polynomials with integral rational coefficients, and suppose that the variety \[V: q(\mathbf{x})=f_{1}(\mathbf{x})=\dots=f_{r}(\mathbf{x})\] has codimension at least \(3\) in \(\mathbb{P}^{n}\). Let \[ N (B, M) := \operatorname{card}\{\mathbf{a}\mid \mathbf{a}\in\mathbb{Z}^{n+1},\;q(\mathbf{a})=0,\; |\mathbf{a}|\leq B,\; \varphi_{p}(\mathbf{a})\in V(\mathbb{F}_{p})\} \] for a prime \(p\) with \(p>M\), where \(\varphi_{p}: \mathbb{Z}^{n+1}\rightarrow\mathbb{F}_{p}^{n+1}\) denotes reduction modulo \(p\), \(\{B, M\}\subseteq\mathbb{R}\), \(B\geq 1, M>1\), and \(|\cdot|\) is the supremum norm on \(\mathbb{R}^{n+1}\). The authors prove then that \[ N (B, M)<<_{\varepsilon, q, f_{1},\dots,f_{r}}B^{n-1 +\varepsilon} (M\log M)^{- 1} + B^{n-1 +\varepsilon -1/n},\; \varepsilon >0, \] obtain a similar result for some indefinite integral quadratic forms of rank 4, and give several applications of their version of the geometric sieve for quadrics.
