Suppose \((X,*)\) is a path connected, based topological space with universal covering space. It is a well-known fact that any morphism \(\varphi : (\land V,d) \to A_{PL}(X)\) from a minimal Sullivan algebra determines natural linear maps \[\pi_k(\varphi) : \pi_k(X)\otimes_{\mathbb Z} l\!k \to \pi_k(\vert \land V,d\vert )\,, \hspace{1cm} k\geq 2\,,\] where \(\vert \land V,d\vert\) denotes the topological realization of \((\land V,d)\). Suppose \(X\) is simply connected, the graded vector space \(H^\ast(X; \mathbb Q)\) has finite type, and \(H(\varphi)\) is an isomorphism. Then, the linear maps \(\pi_k(\varphi)\) are isomorphisms. This may not be true if \(X\) is not simply connected. In this paper the author proves that this is true when: \begin{itemize} \item[a)] \(X\) is a nilpotent CW complex with finitely generated homotopy groups, \item[b)] \(X\) is a triangulable topological space such that each \(\pi_k(X)\) is a finitely generated nilpotent \(\pi_1(X)\)-module for \(k \geq 2\) and the minimal model for the Eilenberg-MacLane space \(K(\pi_1(X),1)\) has no generators in degrees greater than one. \end{itemize} In both cases a) and b) above, the space \(X\) is a Sullivan space in the sense of \textit{Y. Félix} et al. [Rational homotopy theory II. Hackensack, NJ: World Scientific (2015; Zbl 1325.55001)] where the case \(k=1\) is also laid out in detail. Sullivan spaces represent the most general class to which the Sullivan machinery fully applies.
