For a finite group \(G\) and a given representation \(W\), the McKay graph has a vertex for each irreducible representation of \(G\), and an edge \(V_1\rightarrow V_2\) whenever \(V_2\) is a direct summand of \(W\otimes V_1\). \textit{J. McKay} [Proc. Symp. Pure Math. 37, 183--186 (1980; Zbl 0451.05026)] found that these graphs, when \(W\) is the standard two-dimensional representation of a finite subgroup of \(\mathrm{SU}_2(\mathbb{C})\), are exactly the affine Dynkin diagrams of types \(A\), \(D\), \(E\).\\ In the paper under review, the author proves that if \(F\) is an algebraically closed field of prime characteristic \(p\) and \(W=V_n\) is the standard representation of \(G=\mathrm{SL}_n(p)\), then the diameter of the modular McKay graph of \(\mathrm{SL}_n(p)\) with respect to \(V_n\) is \( \frac{1}{2}(p-1)(n^2-n). \)
