The authors consider existence of solutions for the periodic evolution inclusion \[ -u^{\prime}(t)\in A\left( t,u(t)\right) +\partial\varphi\left( u(t)\right) +F\left( t,u(t)\right) \text{ for almost all }t\in T, \] \[ u(0)=u(b), \] where $T=[0,b]$, $\left( X,H,X^{\ast}\right) $ is a triple evolution of spaces, the Banach space $X$ is embedded compactly in the Hilbert space $H$, $A\left( t,x\right) :T\times X\rightarrow X^{\ast}$ is measurable in $t$ and monotone in $x$, $\varphi\in\Gamma_{0}(H)$ (the cone of all lower semicontinuous, convex proper functions on $H$) and $F:T\times H\rightarrow 2^{H}$. This article extends previous results which have assumed either the $A$ term is not present or the subdifferential term is not present. Theorems are proven for the case in which $F$ is convex-valued and also the case in which $F$ is not convex-valued. The existence of extremal solutions is also proven (that is, for the above problem with $F\left( t,u(t)\right) $ replaced by ext $F\left( t,u(t)\right) $), and it is also shown that every solution of the convex problem can be approximated uniformly by extremal trajectories. The results are applied to parabolic distributed parameter control systems. The proofs make efficient use of results in the literature, many of which can be found in [\textit{S. Hu} and the first author, Handbook of multivalued analysis. Volume I: Theory. Dordrecht: Kluwer Academic Publishers (1997; Zbl 0887.47001)].
