Let \(M = (M, g)\) be a compact \(n\)-dimensional Riemannian manifold with boundary. Consider the following initial-boundary value problem for the wave equation: \[ \partial^2_t u - \Delta u + q(x)u + a(x) \partial_t u = 0 \in Q =\mathop{M} \limits^{\small{o}} \times (0, \tau ), \] \(u = 0\) on \(B = \partial M \times (0, \tau )\). The paper is intended to improve the preceding results obtained by \textit{K. Ammari} and \textit{M. Choulli} [J. Differ. Equations 259, No. 7, 3344--3365 (2015; Zbl 1317.93141)]. They concern the stability issue of the inverse problem that consists in determining the potential and the damping coefficient in a wave equation from an initial-to-boundary operator. The authors modify the arguments in [loc. cit.] to show that actually we have a local Hölder stability instead of logarithmic stability.
