Let $G$ be a reductive Lie group and $G_1$ a reductive subgroup of $G$ such that the pair $(G,G_1)$ is a symmetric pair of holomorphic type. The paper under review studies intertwining operators between a holomorphic discrete series representation of $G$ and a holomorphic discrete series representation of $G_1$ with the aim to write down such operators explicitly. The main results include the construction of intertwining projection operators in the case when $G$ is the product of two copies of some group, $G_1$ is the diagonal subgroup and the representations in question are of scalar type; and the construction of intertwining embedding operators as infinite-order differential operators in the case $G$ is simple, its representation is of scalar type, and the representation of $G_1$ is multiplicity-free under a maximal compact subgroup. As an application, the behavior of residues of the intertwining operators when the parameters are at poles is described.
