Let \(F\) be a number field, and for a prime \(p\), let \(S\) denote a finite set of primes of \(F\) containing the \(p\)-adic primes and the infinite primes. If \(G_{F,S}\) is the Galois group of the maximal unramified extension of \(F\) outside \(S\), then for each \(i \geq 2\), one has the localization map \[H^2(G_{F,S}, \mathbb{Z}_p(i)) \rightarrow \oplus_{v \in S}H^2(F_v, \mathbb{Z}_p(i)).\] The kernel \(WK_{2i-2}^{et} F\) of this map is independent of the choice of \(S\), and is called the étale wild kernel. For a Galois extension \(E/F\), many authors have studied Galois co-descent and proved genus formulae for the étale wild kernel analogous to the classical Chevalley genus formula for ambiguous classes. Earlier authors have studied this for odd primes \(p\). In the paper under review, the authors settle the case \(p=2\). For treating this case, the authors define a new variant of Galois cohomology groups called totally positive Galois cohomology.
