In this work, the authors consider the problem of sums of squares in \(S\)-integers. They characterize the rings of \(S\)-integers such that all their totally positive elements were represented as a sum of squares. They also obtain partial answers to the question: when are all the totally positive algebraic integers that are divisible by \(m\) represented as a sum of squares?
