The paper investigates weighted non-commutative Banach function spaces, first introduced in [\textit{L. E. Labuschagne} and \textit{W. A. Majewski}, Ill. J. Math. 55, No. 3, 1053--1081 (2011; Zbl 1272.46052)]. The starting point is a semifinite von Neumann algebra \(\mathcal{M}\) equipped with a faithful normal semifinite trace \(\tau\). The spaces are `weighted' with a non-zero \(x\in L^1(\mathcal{M},\tau)+\mathcal{M}\). The key role is played by an (in general non-linear) trace-like functional \(\tau_x:\mathcal{M}\to\mathbb{R}, a\mapsto \int_{0}^{\infty}\mu_t(a)\mu_t(x)\,dt,\) where \(\mu\) denotes the decreasing rearrangement. This functional is used to give a definition of noncommutative weighted Banach function spaces differing from that of Labuschagne and Majewski [loc.\,cit.]. The last part of the paper is devoted to weighted noncommutative Orlicz spaces.
