The authors investigate an inverse problem to identify parameters for the single-term (and multi-term) fractional-order system of an outbreak of dengue fever. The consists with five first-order equations for the unknowns: \(S_h\), the susceptible humans, \(I_h\), the infected humans, \(R_h\), the humans having obtained resistance against the infection, \(S_m\), the susceptible female mosquitoes, and \(I_m\), the infected female mosquitoes. First a numerical method (modified grid approximation) is proposed for the system. Then the parameters of the fractional-order dengue fever system are estimated. Also, a multi-term fractional order epidemic system of dengue fever is proposed. This helps in predicting the fractional orders and parameters of the fractional dengue fever system. A numerical example is provided.
