Invariants and symmetries of second-order ordinary differential equations of nonprojective type (Q2009904)

This paper is concerned with second-order ODEs \(y^{\prime\prime}=F(x,y,y^\prime)\) whose right-hand side is not a cubic polynomial in the first derivative of the unknown function. A basis of differential invariants consisting of three fifth-order invariants is obtained for the so-called \textit{main case}. In the degenerate case the basis contains two sixth-order invariants and one seventh-order invariant. These invariants are analyzed and compared with some previous invariants from the literature. A last section deals with associated contact symmetries.
