Let \(G\) be a finite group, and let \(\mathcal{C}\) an abelian category on which \(G\) acts, that is, there is a group homomorphism from \(G\) to the group \(\mathrm{Aut}(\mathcal{C})\) of autofunctors of \(\mathcal{C}\). The skew group category \(\mathcal{C}(G)\) is the idempotent completion of the orbit category \(\mathcal{C}[G]\). The author proves that if the order \(|G|\) is invertible in \(\mathcal{C}\), then the skew group category \(\mathcal{C}(G)\) is an abelian category. He also gives an example, in which the order \(|G|\) is not invertible in \(\mathcal{C}\), such that \(\mathcal{C}(G)\) is not an abelian category.
