The author studies constant mean curvature surfaces in the hyperbolic 3-dimensional space \(\mathbb H^3\). The author shows that any open orientable surface can be properly embedded in \(\mathbb H^3\) as a complete minimizing \(H\)-surface and this for any value of \(H \in [0,1)\). Note that the case with \(H=0\) was obtained by \textit{F. Martín} and \textit{B. White} [J. Differ. Geom. 97, No. 3, 515--544 (2014; Zbl 1295.53066)]. The main tool in the paper is still the so called bridge principle. In order to be able to apply the bridge principal a number of times it is necessary that both the initial surface as well as the resulting surface are uniquely minimizing. In the present paper the tools used for this are of a more topological nature as in the paper by \textit{F. Martín} and \textit{B. White} [J. Differ. Geom. 97, No. 3, 515--544 (2014; Zbl 1295.53066)]. As a corollary of their result the authors also show that any open orientable surface can be nonproperly embedded as a complete minimal surface. However it is not known whether this surface is area-minimizing or not. The authors conclude the paper with the question whether there is a non properly embedded area-minimizing surface in \(\mathbb H^3\) of arbitrary topological type.
