Extending the Weyl algebra \(A_n=k\langle x_1,\ldots,x_n,\frac{\partial}{\partial x_1},\ldots,\frac{\partial}{\partial x_n}\rangle\), the author considers the algebra \(I_n=k\langle x_1,\ldots,x_n,\frac{\partial}{\partial x_1},\ldots,\frac{\partial}{\partial x_n},\int_1,\ldots,\int_n\rangle\) of polynomial integro-differential operators. It is shown that \(I_n\) is left (right) coherent if and only if \(n=1\). The algebra \(I_n\) is a holonomic \(A_n\)-bimodule of length \(3^n\) and it has multiplicity \(3^n\) with respect to the Bernstein filtration. All \(3^n\) simple factors of \(I_n\) are pairwise non-isomorphic \(A_n\)-bimodules. The socle length of the \(A_n\)-bimodule \(I_n\) is equal to \(n+1\). As a consequence there is found a new canonical form for each polynomial integro-differential operator. It is also shown that \(I_n\) is the maximal left or right order in the largest left (right) quotient ring of \(I_n\).
