In this paper, the authors study the boundedness of some generalized fractional integral operators between Banach function lattices. The main motivation arises from the study of classical fractional integrals in the theory of Sobolev embeddings. More precisely, in Theorem 2.1 the authors characterize those measures for which the generalized fractional integral operators are bounded between Lebesgue spaces \(L^p\), suitably defined on on nonhomogeneous spaces. The proof hinges on the boundedness of the modified sublinear Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator in the classical Lebesgue space with general measure. In Corollary 3.7 the authors also provide necessary and sufficient conditions for some classes of integral operators to be bounded from Lorentz to Marcinkiewicz spaces.
